Registration Login/Password Problems Account Information Virtual Trade Show Support General Information SourceCAN is a free and secure electronic doorway to the global e-marketplace. SourceCAN matches Canadian products and services from a comprehensive capabilities database with thousands of business opportunities posted by domestic and foreign companies and governments. SourceCAN members can respond to requests for proposals and quotations, post opportunities, showcase their products and services in a virtual tradeshow, develop strategic partnerships, browse financial services, and much more. SourceCAN exposes Canadian business to the global marketplace, facilitates trade and is working to expand Canadian e-commerce efforts. SourceCAN was built through a public / private sector partnership between Industry Canada, Hypernet, and the Canadian Commercial Corporation. Development work was undertaken in the 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 Fiscal Years with the official launch of SourceCAN taking place in 2001. Since early 2003, SourceCAN has been operating under the full control of the federal government. SourceCAN was officially launched in June of 2001. No. SourceCAN started as a public/private partnership, committed to providing Canadian SMEs with the tools needed to do businesses on-line. No other organization provides the range of services that SourceCAN offers. Essentially RFPSource's services are free and there is no cost to become a member. On other sites you usually need to pay an initial registration fee and then again for each opportunity that you receive. SourceCAN also uses six tender feeds, which means Canadian companies are exposed to both domestic and international opportunities. The additional value-added services, such as the Virtual Trade Show and Business Services, also give SourceCAN a unique differentiator as an e-commerce learning tool and marketing resource, as well as an e-marketplace. Yes, you must supply a username and password to access company specific areas of the website. Further to that all data transferred between the browser and website is encrypted via a 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Database: The main SourceCAN database is Industry Canada's central registry of Canadian firms, the Canadian Company Capabilities database. Feeds: There are presently eight feeds available to our clients. These are: Canadian Bids (CB); Nova Scotia Provincial Tender Notices (NS); New Brunswick Provincial Tender Notices (NB); Trade Opportunity Program feed (TOP); Agriculture Opportunities feed (AGRI); Tenders Electronic Daily (TED); Business to Business feed (B2B); and the US Government Business Feed (USG). There are approximately 41, 500 registrants in SourceCAN Registration Any Canadian business can register with SourceCAN and use all of the services. Government employees and foreign companies can also register with SourceCAN however they can not set up a booth in the Virtual Trade Show or bid on opportunities. As a member of SourceCAN you get a single registration point to gain access to the world marketplace, you are able to market your products and services both domestically and globally, you are given online resources to establish the e-commerce portion of your business and you are exposed to thousands of business opportunities daily from around the globe. Simply click on the "Join Now!" icon and you will be guided through the SourceCAN registration process. Login/Password Problems Yes you do need a username and password to use ALL of RFPSource's services. You DO NOT need a password to… You DO need a password to… If you forget your password, email info@rfpsource.ca You change your SourceCAN password by clicking on 'Edit User Information' under the account title in the left menu. This will transfer you to the SourceCAN registration form. Here you can enter your new password, and when finished click done at the end of the form. For your own security it is recommended that you log off on the SourceCAN site when leaving the Internet. However, if you forget to do so, your SourceCAN account will automatically log you off within 15 minutes of not being active. Account Information In order to receive business opportunities via email you must fill out the Add Match Criteria. Also make sure to fill out the Edit Match Filter portion of your account. This will ensure that you only receive those opportunities that you are interested in. The username is unique across the entire web site and is used to identify clients. This username is linked to the data provider, which permits only this person to make changes to the company records. Storage is provided for only one data provider per company. After logging in you can update your company information by clicking on "Update Company Profile" under "My Account" on the side menu. Only the original data provider can make changes to the company information. The Edit Match Filter asks you to highlight opportunity categories that you do not wish to receive. This will ensure that you only receive those opportunities that you are interested in. If you are receiving unwanted matches in your email account, you need to go to the "Edit Match Filter" and narrow your search by setting filters to your categories. Also you can go to your "Add Match Criteria" and delete some of the categories that you have selected. Virtual Trade Show Although anyone can view the trade show, only Canadian companies that are registered with SourceCAN can set up a booth. After registering with SourceCAN you can login and create a booth for your company in the Virtual Trade Show. Click on the "Virtual Trade Show" button in the side bar and then click on "Create/Edit Booth". Follow the steps but if you run into difficulty you can either look at the Virtual Trade Show tutorial or look through the "SourceCAN Guide" in the "Support" menu. Login and click on the "Create/Edit Booth" link under "Virtual Trade Show" in the side bar. Choose which booth you would like to edit, if you have more than one, and follow the steps.
